Mt. Elphinstone provides the backdrop for you opening drive at the Sunshine Coast G&CC. Favour the left side off the tee, as the fairway is sloped from left to right. The green on this par 5 is protected with a deep bunker on the front right.
Layup short of the 100 yard marker or go for the green off the 2nd tee. Look for the carved bear on the massive lone fir next to the pond on the right. Careful not to go long on your approach to avoid a tough up and down.
This challenging par 3 has a long narrow green with a large ridge in the middle. Try to get your tee shot pin high to simplify your play around the green.
Take aim at the massive old growth stump off the tee. Lay up with care short of the bunkers which guard the green both right and left. Big slopes on the green come into play on this stunning par 5.
Play along the forests edge on the 5th hole. A good drive will leave a short approach to the green. The green slopes hard from right to left, so try to keep your approach below the hole.
Find the fairway right of the string of bunkers guarding the left. This short downhill par 4 has the green tucked behind the last bunker, hidden from view. Take a little less club on your second shot, as going over the back of the green is trouble.
The toughest of the par 4’s on the front nine, the 7th plays long and straight. The challenging greens continue here with the front and back of the green separated by a ridge. Approaching the green with accurate distance control is crucial.
The tee shot on #8 is framed by massive old growth trees. Fire down the hill and then turn the corner and play up to the green. The shelf in the back of the green makes for a challenging hole location, but will also act as a nice backstop when the flag is on the lower portion of the green.
The second par 3 on the course is protected by hazards right and left. The green has a small flat area on the front, then funnels down and to the left.
Choose the tee markers that suit your game. From the back tees, this is the most challenging hole on the course. Play your tee shot through the chute and find the landing area short of Roberts Creek. Forward tee players will play a long iron to the same area. The second shot has to cover the creek and environmentally sensitive area to the large green that slopes right to left.
This hole is defined by the most diabolical green on the Sunshine Coast. The hole plays straight away slightly uphill. The green cants hard from left to right and mostly front to back. A precise wedge is required to hold the surface, let alone get it close.
The downhill 12th offers great views of the ocean and Vancouver Island in the distance. The landing area is narrow. A short approach will need to find the left side of the grees as it falls off sharply to the right.
This uphill par four plays much longer that the yardage. The green is guarded by a tree to the right and bunkers right and left. A large false front will have balls roll back to the fairway on shots that don’t reach the middle of the green. Big slopes all over the putting surface make this one of the most distinct on the course.
Cliff Gilker park sits to the left of this downhill par four. The downhill slope runs right to the green which also runs front to back. Deep bunkers, which are hidden from view, sit both left and right of the green.
Sneaky tough, the 15th plays slightly uphill and often into the prevailing wind. The large cedar tree on the right causes lot of problems for tee shots, and often will drop the ball in the bunker below. This is the flattest green on the course, so take dead aim.
A short par four that only the very longest of hitter may challenge. A layup off the tee is a wise choice for most players. A pond and bunkers will force a shot of about 200 yards or less off the tee. Hit a wedge close for your birdie chance.
The shortest hole on the course still offers plenty of challenge. A tiny pond in front of the green and deep bunkers right and left make this short shot quite intimidating. The narrow front of the green is a very small target, and the pin can also be tucked on the back shelf behind the left bunker. Good shots will lead to a birdie chance.
Drive is straight and long through the chute of trees on you last tee shot of the round. Once you make it around the corner you are left with a steep uphill second to a multi tiered green. This hole is demanding for all levels of players and is a challenging end to your perfect day on the Sunshine Coast G&CC

To get to the practice range: from Hwy 101, drive north on Roberts Creek Rd (away from the water), take your first right on Hansen Rd, follow Hansen to the end and take a right through the gates.
The ball dispenser is coin operated (takes $1 and $2 coins) and a bill changer is on site. As an alternative to coins we offer a range e-key which attaches to your key chain and stores your range credit. Saves you money and time!
